South East: Mel Fisher Maritime Heritage Society

South East: Mel Fisher Maritime Heritage Society
In 1622 two Spanish galleons loaded with riches from South America foundered in a hurricane 40 miles west of the Keys. In 1985 Mel Fisher recovered the treasures from the lost ships, the Nuestra Señora de Atocha and the Santa Margarita. In the museum, see, touch, and learn about some of the artifacts, including a gold bar weighing 6.3 troy pounds and a 77.76-carat natural emerald crystal worth almost $250,000. Exhibits on the second floor rotate and might cover slave ships, including the excavated 17th-century Henrietta Marie, or the evolution of Florida maritime history.

Like a second family
Days Inn Miami/North Beach Oceanfront

My fiancee and I came down to Miami with our two kids to do some work for FEMA after Hurricane Wilma. Our original lodging plans fell through, and we were desperate. We got a discounted rate because we were staying for over a month, and even though the room was not ready, the staff even helped to entertain our young ones while we waited. One night the cook downstairs even sauteed some onions for my fiancee so she could surprise me with a nice dinner when I got back from work. The staff became like a second family to us when we stayed there. They tended to our every need, and we were all very sad when the contract expired, and it was time to return home. If you go, tell Michael and Lena that Matt from Pensacola said hello!

Great Location
Days Inn Orlando Motel-Orlando, International Dr, FL

The hotel had a great location because of being able to take the trolley to and from Sea World. It had the lowest price I have ever had for a hotel with a great pool. I loved the free kids meals at the IHOP restaurant in the hotel. This hotel made me feel relaxed.
